Wanderlust

As part of my need to cram in all the things I still want to...I have planned a short hiking trip for Monday-Tuesday with some friends. The goal is to get on the earliest train there, 20K hike, overnight at a little Gasthaus that also serves Schnitzel at night and a big breakfast in the morning, another 20K hike and then the train back to Berlin. I hope that all works out and we don't end up in a "127 Hours" situation. Anyways, it's off to the Sächsische Schweiz, or the "Saxon Switzerland" (called so because of the rock formations). It's home to the most famous hiking path in Germany, the "Malerweg," or "painter's path," because so many Romantic painters took these rocks as their subject. Here is a short, kitchy little video with some nice images:

It's kinda cool that people have been hiking out here for centuries to admire the nature...It's crazy to see these women in big skirts and men in hats out on the trail. :)
